Extremely powerful appliance, yet surprisingly quiet. It also fits comfortably in the hand. Fantastic – cooking is now a pleasure!

It looks nice. It's quiet too. So far, so good...it can even stir. But the real kicker is that the beaters are way too short for a standard mixing bowl. Who on earth designed this??? Who on earth tested this??? What's the point of this??? A complete disappointment!!!

I'm currently engaged in an intellectual debate with my beloved that's been going on for weeks. A conflict of fundamental proportions has arisen on a conceptual/definitional level: Is the object pictured above called a hand mixer or a stirring device? The internet, the dictionary, and common sense have remained silent on this question longer than the universe has remained silent on the question of the meaning of life. I denounce this! I demand conceptual clarity in the kitchen cosmos, in the solar system of cooking, in the galaxies of haute cuisine. And if some relativistic jerk comes along now with the line, "Both work," I'll puree the entire damned internet into a homogeneous mass of viscosity class 4!!! PS: I can't comment on the actual quality of the product. For me, this is an essential question of fundamental, I dare say, ontological significance! Therefore, a clear recommendation to buy; everything else from WMF has always been superb so far.

1. The whisks are too short. They don't reach the bottom of a standard measuring cup. So they're not suitable for whipping egg whites (but I don't need them for curling my hair!). 2. Poor handling: the slider is located under the hand and is difficult to reach while whisking to turn the device off. Five stars only because this review will hopefully be published. My last 1-star review was filtered!

The device looks like it could be useful for baking, but it definitely isn't. From least important to most important: 1. The slider for the mixing speeds is located under the hand you use to hold the mixer. Switching it off is therefore not possible with one hand, and you even have to let go of the device (especially at the highest setting) a little with one hand to move the stiff control knob with the other :-( 2. The speed settings are arranged exactly the opposite of most other hand mixers I know (to switch the device off, I have to push the slider forward). 3. The beaters, for whipping egg whites, among other things, have such short handles that they can't even come close to touching the bottom of a standard measuring cup. More precisely, they only reach about 3 cm above the bottom! In practice, this means that you can't whip 6 egg whites to stiff peaks in the measuring cup at once, as you're used to. Instead, you have to find a smaller container that is also wide enough to fit the beaters (and at least 3 egg whites) and have to deal with an absolutely annoying fiddling process! What a shame! Because it does look nice! Nevertheless, I've never held such a useless hand mixer in my hands. With a previous model, the... The beaters broke and spun freely in their sockets, so I had to buy a whole new appliance because replacement parts were no longer available! I like WMF and own several of their products. But I'm wondering which product designer or manufacturer was asleep at the wheel here. A product that doesn't even deserve the name :-(. Having had two defective units from this series, I'm of the opinion: stay away from WMF hand mixers!

I bought the mixer a while ago and I'm extremely satisfied. It's quick to use and takes up little space in the cupboard. I'm also very happy with its performance.
