The understanding of quality today is different than it was back then.
My grandmother has had this tin since the 1960s. I've had mine for about five years. As the previous reviewer described, my grandmother's old lid is thicker and still intact. My newer lid is much thinner and has already broken with normal use. It's so great that you can buy a replacement lid here. I'm a much better customer than my grandmother was.
