SALAD SPINNER

Hi, we've had it for a week and unfortunately we're not impressed. It's sometimes hard to turn, and for the price I simply expect more. The lid dries really badly. The rest is okay in terms of workmanship, but as I said, the drive mechanism is just bad. Maybe it's because it was a display model. I wouldn't buy it again.

So far, we're very satisfied. It works as intended, is easy to store, and can also be used as a transport container. A well-thought-out concept.

The lid warped the first time it went through the dishwasher.

Wow. As a WMF fan, I bought this slingshot. Unpacked it. Assembled it. But: nothing works. Spinning? Forget it. It's loud, jerky, and the motor doesn't move the basket even a millimeter because it doesn't reach it. The €5 one from China performed 100% better. Offering such poor quality to a customer is simply outrageous.

The salad spinner runs rather unevenly and noisily, as if the parts aren't meshing properly. Turning the lid alone produces a loud rattling noise, but when it's turned on the bowl, the rattling takes on an even more unpleasant tinny sound. Visually, however, we found the spinner very appealing, and we think the accompanying bowl lid is fantastic!

Unfortunately, the bowl isn't perfectly round and the translation isn't as good as with other manufacturers. Otherwise, it's a good product.

It looks good, that's all. The flimsy seed sieve broke despite only moderate use and isn't available as a replacement part. 80 euros down the drain.

Okay, if this were just a €19.90 salad spinner from XY, I wouldn't bother reviewing it. But with the Mercedes of salad spinners, it's a different story. Basically: the spinner looks nice, the materials seem high-quality, the plastic parts (sieve, etc.) warp slightly in the dishwasher, but this is irrelevant for everyday use since it still spins well. We used the salad spinner maybe 100-150 times over several years – I don't have the receipt anymore, but I'd guess it's 3-4 years old, having been used moderately, often just aging over weeks. True salad enthusiasts would certainly get more spins out of it. The catch: a few days ago, the plastic on the pot broke – and that was the end of the spinning. Okay, with a spinner listed on the WMF website for €90+, I don't expect the end of the world, and there's always customer service. Surprisingly, even on the review site, which is probably already censored by the company itself, one reads that the problem is not exactly an isolated case – despite all the advertising about durability, stainless steel, and sustainability – the plastic components are cheap and short-lived, and once they break, the fun is over. Without going into further detail, here is my correspondence with WMF: I can no longer reconstruct my initial letter. The reply – which mainly concerned the replacement question – was: Dear Mr. XY, thank you for your message. I am sorry that there is cause for complaint with your Gourmet salad spinner. However, outside the 2-year warranty period, we unfortunately have to decline to process this as a warranty claim. I am pleased to be able to send you a voucher code for our online shop, www.wmf.com, as a gesture of goodwill. Do I understand correctly that with a €90 salad spinner made of high-quality materials (energy expenditure in steel production, etc.), the breakage of a single, inexpensive plastic part on the lid results in a total operational failure and essentially necessitates a replacement purchase? And there isn't even the option of obtaining the lid or its components as spare parts, even outside the warranty period for a service fee of €19.90? Furthermore, do I understand correctly that WMF's maximum concession is a 30% discount for the online shop, which would then make a new bowl approximately €7-8 more expensive than it would be online anyway? Do I also understand correctly that I can find some nice pages about sustainability at WMF online? You are welcome to send me another reply before I resort to the last measure of a somewhat disturbed consumer in a few days... a few reviews here and there for the product, including photos of the defect. The dysfunctional salad spinner was replaced without any problems! And now everything is perfect: high quality, design AND functionality – highly recommended.

The salad spinner spins the salad so slowly, poorly, and inefficiently that it has absolutely no effect! At best, the product can only be used as a stainless steel bowl. At this price, one would expect functionality. Very unusual and embarrassing for WMF. The product is completely unusable. I would never buy it again and advise anyone who needs a salad spinner against it!
