SALAD SPINNER

We got this centrifuge cheaply as a replacement for our previous Silit model, which we damaged ourselves (the crank broke). At the original price, I would have returned it immediately or left it at the store. The crank makes a clearly audible grinding noise, the crank knob is quite stiff, and the quality of the exterior polish is much worse than on the previous model. Without the WMF logo, I would have considered it a discount store item in the €10-20 price range, and with the logo, I would have classified it as a counterfeit. Since the takeover by an investor, WMF unfortunately seems to be systematically cutting costs. A note regarding one of the other reviews: You can completely disassemble the centrifuge without damaging it! To do this, completely unscrew the small knob in the center of the "drive unit." Then, with a little force, you can pull the drive unit off. The crank unit is only clipped into the metal lid and can be detached without damage by pressing the locking tabs inwards. The crank gear has a similar axle design to the drive unit, but with a plug instead of a screw knob. Simply pull out the plug, then the gear will come off. If necessary, the crank knob can also be pulled off with a little force.

We've owned the above salad spinner for about six months. We preferred the previous model because smaller salad leaves get stuck under the lid of the new one and are very difficult to remove. Unfortunately, the lid can't be removed!

We received this salad spinner as a gift and unfortunately removed it from our household after using it only once. The interior is made entirely of plastic, which is offensive to the mere sight of. The accompanying metal bowl also looks like something from a discount store and cannot compete in terms of quality with products from high-end kitchenware manufacturers. Overall, it's a nice freebie for supermarket loyalty points, but not worth the real money.

While the stainless steel bowl is very robust, the fact that all other parts are made of plastic means it soon breaks down. The spin-drying mechanism broke after a relatively short time. This is more than annoying for such a high-priced item, costing almost €80. One would expect a high-quality product made with correspondingly durable materials. This is clearly not the case. The complaint process with WMF was extremely cumbersome. A refund was not offered.
